'New Year, New You?'

Happy New Year, New Hope family!

There’s a phrase I hear a lot around this time of year: “New Year, New You.”

Don’t get me wrong; I think there’s a lot of power in seeing each new year as an opportunity to grow.

But if you’re in Christ, guess what? You don’t need to become a “new you” every year because JESUS already made you brand new, once and for all, when He saved you!

Here’s how the Apostle Paul puts it in 2 Corinthians 5:17 …

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

Not “might be a new creation if they try hard enough.” Not even “will be a new creation someday.” Any person in Christ “IS” a new creation already!

Christ Lives in You if You Have Been Born Again

The question is, do you know how wonderful the “new you” He created in you really is? Here’s a hint from the Holy Spirit, speaking again through the pen of the Apostle Paul…

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)

Did you catch that? Christ. Lives. In. YOU, if you’ve been born again, and it doesn’t get any more wonderful than that.

But here’s another question you might be wondering; What does that actually MEAN, and how does that affect the way I live my life? Well I’m glad you asked, because that’s exactly what I’m excited to explore with you this Sunday morning :-)

Wherever you are on your faith journey, I hope you’ll make time to join us as we dig in to God’s Word to find fresh hope for today.

See you Sunday!
