Sow Seeds to Harvest Everlasting Life

Hey Church Family,

I’m thinking a lot about seasons here as we enter the first week of summer. In the last few months, I’ve had a chance to spend more time with our students.

They seem so very young. In the Springtime of Life. They’re awesome - so full of life and potential.

I have also had some tough visits with people a lot closer to the end of their time here. The time lived between the two groups is remarkably short.

Eternity will never end and I couldn’t be more excited about being forever face-to-face with Jesus. But how we invest our time here really matters. That’s why I love Solomon’s insight here:

For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. A time to be

born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to harvest (Ecclesiastes 3:1-2, NLT).

Summertime will wind up quickly, so now’s a great time to plant good seed. What seed are you using? You will surely reap whatever you are sowing:

  • Find a Belong Group and commit to building some great relationships that will help you love Jesus.

  • Join a serve team if you are not already engaged in one.

  • Battle discouragement and depression by experiencing the joy of serving others.

One last thought: Did you know when the New Testament speaks of “everlasting life” it’s speaking about quality of life – not just quantity. Considering that and the quick passing of our days, consider these words from Paul and plan for a great Fall and beyond.

You will always harvest what you plant.  ... those who live to please the Spirit will

harvest everlasting life from the Spirit (Galatians 6:7b,8, NLT).

“Harvesting everlasting life” means enjoying God and spreading His love now. Sow the best seed now – time with God overflowing with love for Him and others.

Growing with you,

~Chuck
