No One Likes to Be Told What to Do
Dear New Hope Family,
When someone tries to order us around and tell us what to do, a response we used as children usually comes to mind, “You’re not the boss of me!” But it’s different when Jesus gives us a command. He is not “bossing” us around for his own benefit, but rather for ours. He knows what is best for us and His commands are to guide us in His perfect Will.
Every command Christ has given us is valuable, but do you remember what the most given command in the Bible is? …
“Do not be afraid!”
Nobody Wants to Be Afraid, It’s No Fun
Why would Jesus have to command us not to do something we don’t want to do anyways? Because fear comes so naturally for us.
We are afraid of so many things:
Fear causes us to shrink back into ourselves.
Stop moving forward.
Stop trusting God for our next steps.
In this season of transition at New Hope, I am reminding you of Jesus’ most popular command, “Do not be afraid!” Do not shrink back, do not stop moving forward, do not stop trusting God for your next steps! God has moved so powerfully in the life of our church, but I know there are even greater days ahead!
Fearlessly yours,
~Pastor David
