New Hope Family Responds to Hurricane Victims
Hurricane Ian Victims Response
Dear New Hope Family,
As I write this, all of us here in SWFL are in the middle of prepping for Hurricane Ian. That sounds familiar, doesn't it? Here at New Hope Church we have been "prepping for a hurricane" for many weeks now. As we have been studying Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, we have been learning how to survive and even thrive through the storms of life!
Folks, this storm is no different! The lessons we have been learning from Jesus about preparing for a storm by trusting, believing, listening, calling out to Him and serving others in the midst of the storm all apply to Hurricane Ian as well:
You have already been doing that this week
Our deacons have been out shuttering up homes
Others have been helping their neighbors prepare
Some have been delivering soup to shut-ins ahead of the storm and some have opened their homes to the more vulnerable among us.
To allow everyone the time to reach out and help their neighbor during the storm, we have CANCELED all church activities for this week. We will begin again on Saturday at 6pm with our Service Under the Shade and Sunday with worship.
As you gather in a safe place to ride out this storm, please remember all that Jesus has been teaching us (Matt 5,6 &7). As you pray for your own safety, please remember to pray specifically for our first responders and those hunkering down in insecure housing. As the cleanup begins at the end of the week, please pray with us that God would be glorified as we as a church family respond to the needs we see around us.
With you in the storm,
~Pastor David
