Is God Calling Us to Restore What the Enemy Has Destroyed?
Hello Church Family:
Have you read the story of God’s great work through Nehemiah?
Nehemiah was a Jewish Cupbearer for King Artaxerxes I. A Cupbearer was historically an officer of high rank in royal courts whose duty was to pour and serve drinks at the royal table.
When some of Nehemiah’s family came to visit him, he asked them about Jerusalem. They told him the people were living in disgrace and vulnerability, the walls were torn down, and the gates were burned.
Nehemiah’s response to the condition of the people of God is found in Nehemiah 1:4:
“As soon as I heard these words I sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven.”
Did you know that the church (all Believers) is now the Temple of God? “We are carefully joined together in him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord.” Ephesians 2:21
Many of God’s People Live in Disgrace and Vulnerability
In some ways I believe that many of the people of God are living in disgrace and vulnerability. What if God is once again calling His people to be a part of restoring what has been destroyed by the enemy?
Nehemiah was sent and equipped by a pagan King to rebuild the wall around Jerusalem. When he arrived, he challenged the Jewish leaders to come together with him and rebuild the wall. And they replied:
“Let us rise up and build.” So they strengthened their hands for the good work. Nehemiah 2:18
In 52 days they rebuilt the entire wall around Jerusalem!
Read Nehemiah! See how God works through His people to restore what’s been destroyed. Strengthen your hands for the good work!
