The Point of Christmas: Who Has Been Sent to Us
Hi New Hope family:
There’s something magical about Christmas time, isn’t there? With the (slightly) colder weather, festive decorations and the hustle and bustle leading up to the big day, there’s a lot to take in.
Maybe that’s why I love this time so much, because for me, I love the activity and the feeling that people are coming together and things are going on .
Which is also why I have to remind myself that the DOING is not the point of Christmas. The point of Christmas is to remember what has been DONE … who has been sent … what has been given to us.
We Are Not Enough in Ourselves
For unto us was born that day not just a teacher, not just an example, not even just a prophet. Jesus was born a savior. He was — is — THE Savior. And for all of us wondering if we measure up to whatever we think is expected this Christmas season.
He is a reminder that we were never “enough” in ourselves — and that’s exactly why He came.
He came to let us know that we don’t NEED to be “enough” in ourselves, because we are deeply and fully loved regardless of our pedigree, performance,or purchasing power.
YOU are deeply and fully loved, just because God made you. And Jesus came to make sure you had a way to come home to the Father who loves you, "just because.”
As you celebrate Christ this season, remember that. I look forward to worshipping with you on Sunday.
Serving the Savior with you,
– Pastor Phillip
