How Did God Prepare for Us?

Recently I was talking to a friend who had unexpected company coming to her home and she was rushing around trying to get her house ready.

She was finding creative places to hide things and to make things as clean as possible for her guests at the last minute. She was frustrated at her lack of preparation. It made me think about how God prepared for us.

In His mercy, God was prepared for our salvation from before there was time. He lovingly created the temporary sacrifice for Adam and Eve before He even created them, and He had a plan through Christ for our forgiveness before that.

But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.  So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:4-8).

God didn’t just overlook our sin, He overcame it. He didn’t just find a way to sweep the clutter and mess of sin under the rug or turn the other way. He came to find us. To rescue us with a plan that was created before we were ever alive to save us and to give us a story of redemption to share with the world.

What a Savior!
