If you get two or more Floridians together at this time of year, ev,long they were out of electricity or how high the water came up on their property. Old-timers remember the big storms like Andrew in ’92, Donna in ’60 or the Lake O hurricane of 1928 that killed 3,000 people!.

A common theme through all of their stories is the feeling of helplessness they had in the middle of the storm. They were hunkered down as safely as possible, but the loud and powerful wind blowing around them stole all sense of security. Until the storm subsided, they couldn’t really be sure how things were going to turn out.

Surviving Storms of Life

Let this third-generation Floridian give you a good tip for surviving a storm: Be PREPARED! Have a plan in place and know where to go to be safe. Whether your stormy weather is caused by atmospheric pressure or the pressures of life, you need to think through your plan before the storm clouds gather.
