Adopt a graduate!
We have all been faced with sudden changes over these past few months. From events canceled, plans up in the air, major adjustments have had to be made. One group who is facing this in a big way is our high school graduates. It’s not just a graduation they are missing out on. They have worked diligently and poured their heart into school for the past thirteen years and with the end in sight, suddenly all of that looks different. Their accomplishments do not change, but the excitement and recognition of a job well done has shifted radically. We, as the church, have lost valuable time being able to minister to them face to face before they go off to college, enter the workforce, etc. We, as the church, want to show our graduates that we see them, and they are not forgotten in this. We rejoice over their success and will continue to remain a group of people that will love on them. We want to lavish blessings on them during this difficult time.
It is rational for them to be disappointed. As they prepare for the next step in their journey, we want to show them we are behind them. We are going to do this through words and action. We’d like to get every graduating senior “adopted” for the next two months.
This is how we’re picturing it:
A person or family committing first to pray for the student.
To write, call, text, whatever that can look like in this time. The importance is to make contact to show genuine care for this student.
Blessing them with gifts. Gift card, drop off a meal, snacks, something practical for college, make a sign for their yard. The ideas are endless. If you need help coming up with ideas we are here to help you!
We want every graduate to feel loved and appreciated. We ask if you commit to adopting a graduate, that you prepare to lavish them with love. We do not want to set an amount to spend, but trust that you all will go above and beyond with whatever you do for your graduate!
If you would rather donate money to this cause, we will gladly collect that and allocate it toward these gifts.
To sign up to adopt a graduate please email Pastor Kevin at kevin@newhopecapecoral.com
If you sign up to adopt a graduate, you will receive an email shortly with your graduate, their school, plans for after graduation, a list of favorite things and a little bit about them.
If you would like to write cards for all of our graduates we would love that! Email Leanna Gladfelter at leanna@newhopecapecoral.com to receive a list of our graduates. You can write the cards and we will coordinate a drop off and we will take care of addressing them and mailing them for you!
Some of these students you’ve known since they were babies, and some have only been with New Hope for a short time, but all of them deserve our utmost love!
Thank you New Hope for your support of these students in the past and your continuous commitment to show the love of Christ to them!
