Fall in Love With the Gospel

New Hope Family,

When I was a teenager, I remember attending the funeral of my great grandfather on my dad’s side. I never met the man, but I went out of respect for my grandma and my dad.

One of the stories brought up was that his wife would ask him if he still loves her after all these years of marriage. He would respond grumpily, “If I change my mind, I’ll let you know!” As funny as that sounds, now being married myself, it’s pretty sad to be honest! I don’t think Kara or I would enjoy NOT hearing the three sweet words; “I love you.”

As we celebrate Valentine’s Day this week, my challenge for everyone is to remind God of the love you have for Him.

Tell Him through your words, thoughts, and actions that your love for Him is unconditional.

Psalm 89:1 says, “I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.”

One way we can tell God we love Him more is by falling in love with the Gospel more and more. This week I encourage you to memorize II Corinthians 5:21:

“For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”

Fall in love with the Gospel all over again knowing that in our sins God sent His son Jesus to die a death we justly deserved so that our union with Him can be reconciled upon repentance of sins and a declaration of faith in Christ alone.

So, remind God you love Him this week! He enjoys hearing from His sons and daughters.
